I broke off a bolt on my truck. How do I get it out?
When changing the thermostat on my pick-up I broke the bolt off. I have tried cutting a slot into the 1.5 cm that was left sticking out to no avail. I also tried drilling a hole into the middle of it so that I could sink an extractor into it. The first bit broke off so I got myself a cobalt bit and it drills the bolt well but not the broken drill bit. I can get the extractor down into it some, but nothing that I do will get it to turn. Does anyone have any effective ideas?
once you break hardened steel off in a bolt ,it's almost impossible to drill it out. i have had some luck using a small punch to try to turn the broken bit backwards(wear safety glasses). if you can get it to start moving,keep working with it and try a pair of small needle nose pliers to work it the rest of the way out. IF you get it out you will almost surely need heat to expand the manifold and break the corrosion loose to get the remainder of the bolt out. with out a torch, helicoil is your best option. if bad turns to worse,you will have to remove the manifold. if you are lucky the bolt wont be in a "blind" hole and you may be able to drill it out from the back side, if not , looks like it's machine shop,or new manifold.

Copper Corporation (TSX VENTURE:CCD) has entered into an Option Agreement
that enables it to earn a 100% interest in the Powerline gold prospect (the
"Property") in Street and Scadding Townships in the Sudbury Mining District,
Ontario. The Property consists of 31 contiguous units in four claims blocks.
The agreement provides for cash, shares and an exploration commitment over a
four-year term. The Property is subject to a 3% net smelter return royalty
(the "NSR"), 50% of which can be purchased for cash. The Agreement also
contains an advanced royalty clause, which is payable yearly if Cascadero
exercises its right to acquire a 100% interest in the Property. The Property
adjoins the Scadding Mine property to its south. Both properties occur in a
belt of past gold producers that extends from north east of the Sudbury basin
to south of Espanola, a distance of about 120 kms. Recent work by the Ontario
Geological Survey established a common alteration signature and style of
mineralization for these deposits. The first phase of hydrothermal alteration
was albitization of the host sediments. Albititized zones several hundred
