Impact wrenches use rotational force to loosen and tighten nuts and bolts. They also provide hammering capabilities to provide more torque to aid the loosening or tightening. There are two main styles of impact wrenches, including electric and air. Electric models are available both corded and cordless models.

Impact wrenches are used extensively in building projects where structural steel is used. Plumbers, electricians, and heating/cooling specialists all use impact wrenches to bolt their equipment into place. Automotive technicians also utilize impact wrenches to repair automobiles. The vibrations generated by an impact driver, coupled with the high torque of the motor help break accumulated rust and grime loose on nuts and bolts. Anvil speeds of impact wrenches vary between 300 and 5,000 RPM. The user is able to tighten a large number of nuts and bolts to relatively high levels of torque quickly.
Options for Power Sources
A more consistent torque and speed is often found in the more popular air impact wrenches. Electric models tend to be less in these areas. With advances over the last few years, electric models are catching up to air in torque and rotational speed.
Many Uses of Impact Wrenches
There are many uses for impact wrenches. If it needs to be secured with a nut or bolt, an impact wrench can do the job. Builders use impact wrenches to secure metal frame pieces to foundations and each other. Auto techs use them to secure nuts and bolts to automotive frames and suspension pieces. Household projects can also utilize them to secure railings, electrical panels and many other things.
Impact Wrenches Should be Used Safely
Never use an impact wrench when working with sockets, extensions or bits. Tools that aren’t designed to withstand the hammering impacts can shatter. Where protective eye wear and wash hands to ensure a proper grip before using.
Can you saw off a shotgun barrel if the length cut to meets the minimum requirements (18 inches)?
Like is the act of cutting the barrel what would get you in trouble or is it the length?
You can legally cut a barrel down to 18" as along as the over all length of the shotgun is no less than 26." A lot of people will cut it to 18.5 to be safe. Also, it's my understanding you must re-attach a front sight in order to be legal.
That should be right but I would double check before I started sawing.
