I came across a router bit in a catalog that said, "use only in a router." Others didn't have that warning. It got me thinking... ya know, chuck one in and run the wood along a fence. Maybe?

Consider that a router runs at approx. 25,000 RPM, and the reason is pretty obvious, a smooth cut. A Drill press, often variable in speeds would never attain that RPM rate, and if it did I wouldn't wanna be too close. Beyond that, many router bits are not single piece units, and are shielded from the operator for safety reasons.
To directly answer the "Can I?" notion however, the answer is almost always yes, followed by, But you may not be satisfied.
