Shopping For A Tungsten Carbide Wedding Band Ring
When you choose to marry, one in all the foremost necessary decisions can be regarding your ring. Traditionally, gold, white gold, silver and platinum have been employed in wedding bands. But these days, the choice of metals is broader, reflecting the modification in our tastes and lifestyle. Tungsten carbide is one amongst the new metals from that jewellery designers have begun to craft wedding band rings, offering a wide variety of styles and designs that match every style and budget.
What's Tungsten Carbide?
On its own, tungsten may be a terribly hard and dense metal, with the very best melting point of all metals - six,a hundred degrees Fahrenheit. Alone, tungsten is prone to scratches and harm simply like any other metal, it gains its extreme hardness by being combined with a carbon alloy, remodeling it into tungsten carbide, with a hardness between 8.5 and 9.five on the Mohs hardness scale. The strength of tungsten carbide has created it widely used for many years in industrial applications - it's four times harder than titanium, twice as hard as steel and virtually impossible to scratch. The ensuing metal can be designed into wedding band rings that are both visually gorgeous to please the attention and durable enough to face up to everyday use. These rings can only be damaged through extreme measures, like abrasion from diamonds or being struck with a hammer.
Selecting Your Tungsten Carbide Wedding Band Ring
Make certain you ask your jeweler that metal was employed in the finishing or binding process. Several makers of tungsten carbide wedding band rings use cobalt as a binder, mostly as a result of it's cheaper to produce. The problem with cobalt is that it bonds with oils within the skin and leeches out of the ring resulting in oxidation. The oxidation seems similar to tarnished sliver, but can not be removed by sprucing or grinding. The better choice is nickel-binder tungsten carbide that is chemically inert, will not oxidize and as a result of it's hypoallergenic, there is no danger of irritation to the skin. Take care about managing a jeweler that doesn't specify that their tungsten wedding bands are made with the nickel binder alloy.
Many jewelry stores don't know that alloy they're selling, and if they do not apprehend, it's presumably cobalt alloy or pure tungsten, that lacks the hardness of tungsten carbide and are simply scratched.
As a result of of tungsten carbide's extreme hardness, wedding bands created from this metal can't be sized like gold, silver or platinum rings. When you're prepared to get, build sure that you're taking further care in determining the proper size. With regard to engraving a tungsten carbide ring, it is doable, but the results can be very faint and troublesome to read.
Finally, since your tungsten carbide wedding band ring is not indestructible, it is sensible to urge a warranty, especially against breakage. Below traditional usage there should be little or no wear on both the polish and the textures of your tungsten carbide wedding band ring and you will never would like to use your warranty.

Where can I purchase a saw blade sharpener?
Over the years, I have accumulated a stack of 10 inch carbide and steel saw blades for my saws. I hate to throw them out, but it is cheaper to buy a new one than have one sharpened by a tool store.
Anyone know where I can purchase a saw blade sharpener for home use?
Foley and Belsaw (now one company) have been selling saw sharpening equipment for years. Check eBay and Craigs list for used saw sharpening equipment. Personally I wouldn't bother. Cheap carbide blades aren't worth sharpening, steel blades aren't worth owning anymore and good carbide blades should be sent to a professional service like Forrest.
Take your old blades and recycle them or turn the into clocks or wall decorations.
