Greasing A Toro Riding Mower: How Life Can Be Simpler When You Know How
To grease a Toro riding mower you need to follow these steps in order–prepare your materials, set the parking brake and take off the key, clean the mower, wipe the fittings and use the grease gun to apply grease, apply grease on the grease fitting inside the steering wheel, apply grease on the fitting near the pivot point of the idler pulley, use the ratchet and socket to take off the spindle covers, clean the grease fitting of the bearing spindles and apply grease and, fasten the covers securely and run the mower for several minutes.
Toro riding mowers have long been recognized as the best in the lawnmower industry. These mowers consistently lead the market in sales. A strong reason in support of Toro mowers is that they need only a light fixing up every now and again. Lubricating the idler bearings, spindle bearings and steering controls is a particularly important maintenance task for owners of Toro mowers. It is adequate to lubricate these parts for each use with a lithium compound. If you need to grease your Toro mower, then follow these steps:
Gather all of the materials you will need
You will need to prepare Lithium grease, the grease gun, rags to wipe, and a ratchet and socket to grease your Toro lawnmower.
Set the parking brake, then make sure to take off the key
To prevent the mower from rolling off or to keep it from inadvertently starting and causing any accidents, set the parking brake and be sure to remove its key.
You should clean underneath the mower deck often
Before you wash the parts which are mentioned earlier, the lawnmower has to be cleaned every time it is used. Regularly cleaning the Toro mower will prevent a build up of dirt, rust and contaminants.
After the fittings have been wiped off, you simply apply grease via the grease gun
Find the axle grease fittings on the front axle. These fittings are tapped or screwed into the axle’s barrel which is found near the mower’s front part. Clean off the fittings with a cloth to get rid of all debris and grit. Wipe, then apply grease to the fittings using the grease gun. Work the lever until grease oozes out from the seals.
Put some grease on the grease fitting found in the steering wheel
Rotate the steering wheel to the right and grease the grease fitting. Inside the front wheel on the right, you can locate it. Apply an additional three or four strokes until grease extrudes from the seals. Move the wheel in the other direction and then take the grease gun and do the same thing.
Apply grease on the fitting near the pivot point of the idler pulley
Lower the deck of the mower until you come to the lowest possible setting. On the top of the mower deck, locate the idler pulley. The grease fitting is located right above the pivot point, on the idler. Be sure the fittings are clean before you use the grease gun and then put on 3-4 drops of grease.
Use the ratchet and socket to take off the spindle covers
The spindle bearings are protected by the covers on both sides of the deck. Additionally the grease fittings will be covered by them as well. Remove the covers with a socket and ratchet, and then store them so they won’t be lost.
Make sure the grease fitting is clean before applying grease
Before greasing the two bearing spindles, you need to first clean the grease fittings. Affix the grease gun and for each fitting pump it 3-4 times. You should turn the spindle by hand at least twice, perhaps three times, and then apply 3 shots of grease.
Run the mower for sometime after safely sealing the covers
Use the ratchet and socket to replace the spindle covers and fasten them securely. You should run the mower while the cutting blades are engaged for a number of minutes. This ensures that the spindle bearings collect equal amounts of grease.

Honda tap,make new tread dilemma?
i need to make new tread on the crankshaft hole,the bolt for that hole is 13.85mm. because the hole treads are strip i need to drill to a new size.my question is this.The hole is likely 13.90- 13.95mm.what size drill bit i need,and tap the biggest i got is 12x1.75 and is small? and what size new bolt i need?.the car is a 1992 Honda civic DX.i am trying to fix this car for my son.the car run fine .i not out of time,i just need to put the new harmony pulley.i wanted to take it to a shop,but around where i live.there are no much of those,.thanks for any help?
You don't re-tap a crankshaft. The things are case hardened steel. Your crankshaft will need to be replaced.
